GET TO KNOW OMAR.

Ever since I was a little boy, I dreamt of working at BMW. I remember being impressed by the headquarters in Munich – the BMW four-cylinder – which I saw from the Olympia Tower for the very first time. Luckily, my dream came true.

I studied International Business at the University of Aalen in Baden-Württemberg and already gathered first experiences in the automotive industry in Spain and Portugal during my studies. After finalising my diploma thesis in cooperation with BMW China, I started my first professional job at the BMW Group in 2006. My task was the Long-term Sales Planning and Market Prognosis for the sales region China. Soon, this function got enriched by the Price Planning for importer markets in the region Asia and I took responsibility for the Strategic Pricing of the Hybrid Technology. This field was very interesting since it was quite new at the time.

In 2010, I moved to the "Project i", a kind of think-tank startup for e-mobility within the BMW Group, where I was responsible for Project Management and Committee Steering. There, I got to know almost all areas and division of the company. The launch of the BMW i sub brand and the BMW i3 and i8 was an impressive milestone and highlight for me and the entire team.

In 2012 with the age of 30, I got promoted to Head of Product Management for BMW in the National Sales Company in Spain, where I experienced my four most impressive years in work but also in my private life. Afterwards, headquarter and my hometown Munich called back where I headed the Product Management team for BMW M Performance Automobiles and BMW M options.

Since 2018, I have been responsible for the Regional Product and Price Management for Latin America. From Mexico City, where our regional office is located and where I live, we are steering 27 markets in conjunction with our offices in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina. In my current position, I am responsible for the prioritisation and orchestration of all products, options and price measures within Latin America. This includes planning, pricing and launching new models and technologies and conducting life cycle management.

During my journey, I got to know different markets, cultures, business partners and colleagues across many countries, which is priceless and highly valuable for me as I love travelling and experiencing different cultures. As a passionate chef, I love the Afghan, German, Chinese, Spanish, Mexican, Brazilian and Argentinian cuisine – of course not in one dish. To keep my mind, heart and body healthy and strong, it is very important for me to keep a close contact to family and friends and to do sports. Good and deep quality talks with good friends and colleagues are one of my preferred activities.
