After graduating from high school, I did a ten-month internship in marketing in my hometown and immediately noticed that this field highly appeals to me. That is also the reason why I started an apprenticeship as a Digital/ Print Media Clerk in 2017 and was mainly involved in marketing to existing customers. I organised various internal events and realised that the event industry as an interface to marketing is right up my street.
After my apprenticeship, I decided to study Business Administration in order to deepen my knowledge and build on my apprenticeship. On the side, I continued to work in the event sector and was able to gain even more experience in this industry.
After working in a wide variety of industries (e.g., Logistics, Printing Press Manufacturers and also Newspaper Publishing), however, I realised that product marketing is not yet what I would like to do later. Unfortunately, I could never completely identify with the product and always had the feeling that I had to force something on someone. Then I got the idea to go in the other direction of marketing, especially since I wanted to move to another city. Consequently, the perfect opportunity arose for me:
As part of my practical semester, I am doing an eight-month internship at the BMW Group in HR Marketing and Events. I noticed right from the start that I enjoy working in HR Marketing as I was able to identify with the topics immediately and at the same time have the feeling that I am helping people instead of trying to sell them something. Furthermore, the combination with the event area is exactly mine – I have the feeling that this internship is tailored to me. My team is great, I have exciting projects and the time here flies by. Munich is also a great city where one can experience a lot.
I can only warmly recommend an internship at BMW to everyone. It showed me in which direction I want like to go after my studies, and, for that alone, it has been more than worth it.
