After migrating from India as a teenager, I completed my schooling in the UK and went on to graduate as an Electrical Engineer at the University of Manchester. During this period, I also completed Duke of Edinburgh Gold award and Manchester Leadership programme.
With a decade of experience in various operational and commercial roles within the automotive sector, I had an opportunity to work for the BMW Group. I work as a Corporate Sales Manager for Alphabet GB and my role allows me to support our customers in their respective sustainability journeys. Our consultative approach allows us to really understand our customers` objectives and essentially create bespoke solutions for our customers. We have a true 360-degree mobility product & service offering that doesn’t only help our customers to be more efficient, but it also really drives home the sustainability focus.
My faith teaches me to do “Seva” on a regular basis. Seva simply means selfless service and the idea is to collectively make this world a better place. Throughout my career, I have ensured that I get involved in initiatives that support this ideology. In my previous employment, we did extensive work in driving male/female ratios in the workforce. We also started various initiatives to support candidates from diverse and ethnic backgrounds. This helped in preparing a more diverse pool of candidates who were able to progress into senior management roles.
Since starting at the BMW Group, I have been an active participant of our diversity and inclusion initiatives, led by the EMBRACE Group. We currently have some very exciting projects going on, with more active members than ever before. One of the highlights has been the “Schools Engagement” project. Now in the 2nd year, we support our partner schools with career days, CV workshops, mock interviews, and general career mentorship.
BMW UK recognised my willingness and intent to make an impact, and subsequently offered me an opportunity to represent BMW UK at the One Young World Summit 2022. The summit gives me a platform to learn from the best in the class and I am confident that the enhanced network, exposure that OYW offers will go a long way in me making an impact – both for the BMW Group and the wider community.
