Security & Fire Protection Coordinator

As the Security & Fire Protection Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all security and fire protection activities at our key facilities, including the NSC/SF, Training Center, and Regional Distribution Center (RDC). Reporting directly to the Corporate Security and Security Governance Manager based in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, this role is vital to ensuring a safe and secure environment for our employees, suppliers, and visitors, while ensuring compliance with corporate policies, legal regulations, and BMW’s quality standards. In addition, you will manage and supervise external service providers, oversee budgets, implement security processes and procedures, conduct risk assessments, manage incidents and emergencies, and maintain strong strategic relationships with key stakeholders both within and outside the organization. You will also support fire prevention and crisis management efforts, driving continuous improvement of security measures to protect our people and assets, always aligned with BMW’s corporate identity and standards of excellence.

 

What awaits you?

  • Coordinate and supervise security coverage at key BMW facilities, managing external service providers and security personnel training.
  • Conduct Security Risk Assessments and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
  • Manage security budgets, vendor contracts, and ensure availability and functionality of security systems and equipment.
  • Monitor and report security incidents, ensuring compliance with legal, corporate, and data privacy requirements.
  • Provide crisis management support, including training and maintaining up-to-date emergency documentation.
  • Oversee fire prevention efforts and maintenance of fire protection equipment.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, and external vendors.
  • Ensure 24/7 emergency response capability and manage after-hours access and incident handling.
  • Support investigations, property recovery, and enforcement of security protocols aligned with BMW standards.

 

What should you bring along?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in security coordination, facility security management, or a related role, preferably within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of security operations, risk assessment methodologies, and emergency response procedures.
  • Experience managing external security service providers and vendor contracts.
  • Familiarity with fire protection systems, prevention measures, and related maintenance practices.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement security policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, and vendors.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively, with experience in crisis management and incident investigation.
  • Strong organizational and budget management skills, with attention to detail and compliance.
  • Proficiency in using security management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
